At Yoga Loft Tucson, we believe in real stories, real people, and real community. Our students come from all walks of life, and each journey into yoga is personal. For Brenda, yoga became a path back to strength, stability, and self-discovery after decades of life transitions and physical challenges.

Her story is one of resilience, humor, and deep transformation. We’re honored to be a part of her journey and proud to share how accessible yoga and a supportive community helped her reconnect with herself.

Returning to Yoga Again After Years of Change

Brenda’s connection to movement and mindfulness began decades ago. Raised in Southern California, she spent over 30 years balancing a high-stress career as an escrow manager while owning her own real estate company. To manage the pressure, she practiced yoga and Pilates every morning, often with DVDs at home.

Yoga was her sanctuary but life threw her unexpected challenges. After a surgical error left her blind in 2007, Brenda faced a long recovery that included multiple procedures and months of rehabilitation. The return of her partial vision was a miracle, but so was the strength she found in herself during that time.

Over the following years, she embraced a nomadic lifestyle. From reconnecting with her father in Oregon to mountain biking with a community of supportive women to volunteering in homeless shelters, Brenda explored what it meant to live with vulnerability, courage, and an open heart. Through every turn, movement remained her grounding force, even when she carried the weight of depression “like a backpack worn on her chest.”

Her journey eventually brought her to Tucson, where she slowly rebuilt a life of stability, creativity, and wellness. She bought her forever home. She graduated with honors in marketing and business. And after surviving a serious car accident and stroke in 2022, she began looking for a space where she could restore her body and spirit once again.

Searching for Accessible Yoga in Tucson

Brenda found Yoga Loft Tucson the way many people do. She Googled “yoga classes near me” and came to the studio closest to her home. Her first class wasn’t quite the right fit, but instead of giving up, she explored our class schedule and returned the next day for Yin with Bonnie. That’s when something clicked.

From there, Brenda took full advantage of our Two-Week Intro Unlimited Pass, exploring a variety of class styles and reconnecting with her love of practice. Near the end of her intro period, she mentioned she had an upcoming trip to California to care for her niece. Her final class before the trip was with Sorrel, who casually asked, “Well, you’re going to join now, right?” That simple invitation was all Brenda needed.

A Yoga Community That Sees and Supports You

What makes Yoga Loft Tucson different, Brenda says, is the deep sense of community, acceptance, and care. “I feel seen and heard, and most importantly, understood and accepted. The instructors make everyone feel welcome and part of the family. There are multiple offerings and many levels of accessibility. No one is left behind, and there is no judgment.”

Brenda also deeply appreciates how the studio honors and uplifts every role with incentives like offering memberships to the cleaning crew, whom she calls “healers.” As someone who finds comfort in cleaning as a coping tool, she recognizes the power of a clean, safe space in fostering healing energy. And in that space, she’s found friendships that extend far beyond the mat.

Friendship, Creativity, and Finding Her People

Brenda has built strong connections here. She met her yoga best friend, Rose, in class. The two now sit side-by-side in every session, whisper inside jokes when things get hard, and encourage each other to keep showing up.

She also met her life coach, Cleary, on her mat. Their work together has helped Brenda reframe how she approaches life and healing. Her new mantra, a quote from Wayne Dyer, sums it up: “Change the way you look at things, and the things you look at change.”

This community has helped Brenda find balance and rebuild her strength. She’s more coordinated now and more connected to herself than ever before.
